The School lasts for 4 weeks. Our priority is to run an informative, constructive and relaxing summer school.
Back to Programme.
- 17 June (Sunday)
- 14.00 onwards: Arrival
- 18.00 - 18.30: Registration
- 19.00 onwards: Icebreaker in a local English pub
- 18 June - 6 July
The first week (w1) and the some days of the second week (w2/1) are mainly reserved for regular lectures. Topics to be covered range from astronomy, solar and planetary science to particle physics and cosmology.
The main focus of the remaining of the second week (w2/2) and of the following another two weeks (w3 - w4) is on student projects. During the project weeks we plan to have additional specialist lectures, that are complementary to the more general introductory lectures, and will be delivered by internationally known speakers in the field of particle physics, astronomy and astrophysics.
Additionally to the lectures, we provide informative site trips for the students. One trip goes to ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands; the other to Jodrell Bank Observatory; and the third one is to the Greenwich Observatory. We reserve the right to cancel any of the above site visit in case of unforeseen difficulties.
- 9 - 13 July
During the last week (w4), students give oral presentations (approx 10 mins + 5 mins for questions) on their own projects. We encourage the students to make presentation and there will be a “best presentationr” competition both in particle physics and in astronomy.
Week 4 also has two concluding lectures.
19.00 onwards: Conference Dinner.
- 13 July
14.00: School closes. Departure.
